CA Vishal Agarwal has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India since 2012 and is the proprietor of Vishal Agarwal & Co, Chartered Accountants. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. His MBA included an international programme at SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, one of Europe's foremost business schools, where he completed a programme in Differentiation Strategies.

After qualifying, he practised briefly as a chartered accountant in Kolkata before spending nearly a decade at Union Bank of India as a financial analyst in large corporate banking. He worked in Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

At Genpact, he served as Assistant Vice President, Operations, leading accounts payable operations for a Fortune 500 client. That work involved process redesign, cash-flow forecasting and the automation of invoice processing: the same problems the firm's document automation work addresses.

His next role took him to New Zealand's financial services sector, where he gained first-hand experience of the Financial Markets Authority's regulatory framework and of how the country's banks, lenders and financial advice providers operate. Since returning to India, he continues to advise a New Zealand financial services firm through Vishal Agarwal & Co.

The firm's practice covers audit and assurance, direct taxation, GST, accounting and corporate compliance. Alongside it, he designs and builds business systems himself: AI voice agents that answer business calls, pipelines that turn bank statements and invoices into verified accounting data, applications on Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365, and finance dashboards built on reconciled data. The firm also leads SAP finance engagements, working with experienced SAP consultants.

His approach starts from accounting. Every system is designed around the records it produces, the controls it needs and the reconciliation that proves it is right, and then the technology is chosen to fit.
